# The Document Converter vs PubReader

The clearest difference is rating: The Document Converter at 4.7 against PubReader's 2.8. The Document Converter also leads on ratings volume (5.9K vs 4). PubReader's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and review sentiment (67% vs 36%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Document Converter sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. PubReader asks for nothing beyond the download.

The Document Converter holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Document Converter has 5.9K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of The Document Converter's written reviews are positive against 67% of PubReader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Document Converter ships an update every 5 months, PubReader every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
