# The Document Converter vs Top Scanner

The clearest difference is ads: The Document Converter at none against Top Scanner's shown. The Document Converter also leads on ratings volume (6K vs 8). Top Scanner's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Document Converter sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Top Scanner sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Top Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Document Converter has 6K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two.

The Document Converter ships an update every 5 months, Top Scanner every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
