# The Video Converter vs Plain Text Editor

The clearest difference is rating: The Video Converter at 4.5 against Plain Text Editor's 3.0. The Video Converter also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (10K vs 2). Plain Text Editor's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 4 months) and review sentiment (50% vs 29%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Video Converter sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Plain Text Editor sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Video Converter holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Video Converter has 10K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of The Video Converter's written reviews are positive against 50% of Plain Text Editor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Video Converter ships an update every 4 months, Plain Text Editor every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
