# The Video Converter vs Chess Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: The Video Converter at 4.5 against Chess Scanner's 3.9. The Video Converter also leads on ratings volume (10K vs 22). Chess Scanner's advantage is review sentiment (60% vs 29%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Video Converter sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Chess Scanner sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Video Converter holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Video Converter has 10K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of The Video Converter's written reviews are positive against 60% of Chess Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Video Converter ships an update every 4 months, Chess Scanner every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
