# animatope vs コドモノ

animatope and コドモノ both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of animatope's written reviews are positive against 0% of コドモノ's. animatope also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 18.6). コドモノ's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 30 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. animatope sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and コドモノ sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for animatope against 4.9 for コドモノ. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: コドモノ has 28 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of animatope's written reviews are positive against 0% of コドモノ's.

animatope ships an update every 30 months, コドモノ every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
