# animatope vs Umi

The clearest difference is review sentiment: animatope at 100% against Umi's 53%. animatope also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Umi's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 30 months) and ratings volume (2.4K vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. animatope sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Umi sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

animatope holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Umi has 2.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of animatope's written reviews are positive against 53% of Umi's.

animatope ships an update every 30 months, Umi every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
