# Terra Map vs OnPoint Trails

The clearest difference is monetization model: Terra Map at free with in-app purchases against OnPoint Trails's subscription. Terra Map also leads on ratings volume (541 vs 12) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). OnPoint Trails's advantage is review sentiment (83% vs 74%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Terra Map sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per year and OnPoint Trails sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $39.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Terra Map against 4.7 for OnPoint Trails. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Terra Map has 541 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
