# Sea Monster Simulator vs Insect Evolution

The clearest difference is rating: Insect Evolution at 4.6 against Sea Monster Simulator's 3.9. Insect Evolution also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 17 months) and ratings volume (640 vs 25). Sea Monster Simulator's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Insect Evolution sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Sea Monster Simulator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Insect Evolution holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Insect Evolution has 640 ratings behind it against 25, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Sea Monster Simulator's written reviews are positive against 25% of Insect Evolution's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Sea Monster Simulator ships an update every 17 months, Insect Evolution monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 27, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
