# IFR Trainer Flight Instruments vs PPL Quiz

The clearest difference is update cadence: IFR Trainer Flight Instruments at every 6 weeks against PPL Quiz's every 8 months. IFR Trainer Flight Instruments also leads on ratings volume (959 vs 14). PPL Quiz's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IFR Trainer Flight Instruments sells 6 one-off in-app purchases and PPL Quiz sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PPL Quiz holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IFR Trainer Flight Instruments has 959 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of IFR Trainer Flight Instruments's written reviews are positive against 50% of PPL Quiz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IFR Trainer Flight Instruments ships an update every 6 weeks, PPL Quiz every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
