# Strongbox vs Password Manager

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Strongbox at 4.1K against Password Manager's 56. Strongbox also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Password Manager's advantage is iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Strongbox sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Password Manager sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Strongbox holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Strongbox has 4.1K ratings behind it against 56, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Strongbox's written reviews are positive against 75% of Password Manager's.

Strongbox ships an update fortnightly, Password Manager every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 15, 2026 respectively.
