# Retrogaming Collection vs NextGam

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Retrogaming Collection at 68% against NextGam's 0%. Retrogaming Collection also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.2). NextGam's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 2.0) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Retrogaming Collection sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and NextGam sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NextGam holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Retrogaming Collection's written reviews are positive against 0% of NextGam's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Retrogaming Collection ships an update every 3 months, NextGam monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
