# iClicker Student vs Blackboard

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Blackboard at none against iClicker Student's 8. Blackboard also leads on ratings volume (443K vs 37K) and chart position (#113 vs unranked). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iClicker Student sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Blackboard asks for nothing beyond the download.

Blackboard holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Blackboard has 443K ratings behind it against 37K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of iClicker Student's written reviews are positive against 14% of Blackboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iClicker Student ships an update every 6 weeks, Blackboard monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
