# Southern Writers vs Craft DIY Tutorial

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Southern Writers at 100% against Craft DIY Tutorial's 55%. Craft DIY Tutorial's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.0) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Southern Writers sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per year and Craft DIY Tutorial sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $11.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Craft DIY Tutorial holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Craft DIY Tutorial has 540 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Southern Writers's written reviews are positive against 55% of Craft DIY Tutorial's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Southern Writers ships an update every 11 months, Craft DIY Tutorial fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
