# Southern Writers vs Layer Accordingly

The clearest difference is rating: Layer Accordingly at 3.6 against Southern Writers's 3.0. Layer Accordingly also leads on monetization model (free vs subscription) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 11 months). Southern Writers's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 62%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Southern Writers sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per year and Layer Accordingly sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Layer Accordingly holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Layer Accordingly has 26 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Southern Writers's written reviews are positive against 62% of Layer Accordingly's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Southern Writers ships an update every 11 months, Layer Accordingly every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
