# Alpha M vs MARKD

The clearest difference is ads: Alpha M at none against MARKD's shown. Alpha M also leads on ratings volume (56 vs 1) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). MARKD's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 14 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MARKD holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alpha M has 56 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Alpha M ships an update every 14 months, MARKD every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
