# Matco Tools vs S

The clearest difference is monetization model: S at free against Matco Tools's free with in-app purchases. Matco Tools's advantage is ratings volume (5.2K vs 8) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Matco Tools holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matco Tools has 5.2K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Matco Tools ships an update every 6 weeks, S every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
