# Matco Tools vs Lincoln Electric

The clearest difference is rating: Matco Tools at 4.7 against Lincoln Electric's 3.4. Matco Tools also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (5.2K vs 5). Lincoln Electric's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (50% vs 35%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Matco Tools holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matco Tools has 5.2K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of Matco Tools's written reviews are positive against 50% of Lincoln Electric's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Matco Tools ships an update every 6 weeks, Lincoln Electric every 14 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
