# Matco Tools vs ECOGARD Resource Guide

The clearest difference is rating: Matco Tools at 4.7 against ECOGARD Resource Guide's 2.9. Matco Tools also leads on ratings volume (5.1K vs 15). ECOGARD Resource Guide's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (57% vs 35%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Matco Tools holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matco Tools has 5.1K ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of Matco Tools's written reviews are positive against 57% of ECOGARD Resource Guide's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Matco Tools ships an update every 6 weeks, ECOGARD Resource Guide monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
