# bol vs Newpharma

The clearest difference is rating: bol at 4.7 against Newpharma's 2.3. bol also leads on ratings volume (1.3K vs 3) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Newpharma's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (52% vs 36%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

bol holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: bol has 1.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of bol's written reviews are positive against 52% of Newpharma's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

bol ships an update weekly, Newpharma every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
