# SongSheet Remote vs Music Reader

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SongSheet Remote at none against Music Reader's 3. SongSheet Remote also leads on ads (none vs shown). Music Reader's advantage is ratings volume (192 vs 4) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 14 months). On price, review sentiment, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Music Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. SongSheet Remote asks for nothing beyond the download.

Music Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Reader has 192 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of SongSheet Remote's written reviews are positive against 51% of Music Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SongSheet Remote ships an update every 14 months, Music Reader every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
