# iFiles vs File Manager & Documents

The clearest difference is monetization model: iFiles at free with in-app purchases against File Manager & Documents's subscription. iFiles also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). File Manager & Documents's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iFiles sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and File Manager & Documents sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iFiles holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3.2K and 4.8K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of iFiles's written reviews are positive against 53% of File Manager & Documents's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iFiles ships an update every 3 weeks, File Manager & Documents every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
