# FleetWatcher vs The Shovel App

The clearest difference is rating: The Shovel App at 5.0 against FleetWatcher's 4.0. The Shovel App also leads on iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.6). FleetWatcher's advantage is ratings volume (26 vs 2) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Shovel App holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FleetWatcher has 26 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

FleetWatcher ships an update fortnightly, The Shovel App monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
