# WHEP vs CMX Cinemas

WHEP and CMX Cinemas both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of WHEP's written reviews are positive against 18% of CMX Cinemas's. CMX Cinemas's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 29 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

WHEP holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CMX Cinemas has 7K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of WHEP's written reviews are positive against 18% of CMX Cinemas's.

WHEP ships an update every 29 months, CMX Cinemas every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
