# Brilliant vs Name Skillz

The clearest difference is price: Brilliant at Free against Name Skillz's $4.99. Brilliant also leads on ratings volume (33K vs 31) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Name Skillz's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 19) and ads (none vs shown). On review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Brilliant is free to download; Name Skillz costs $4.99 up front. Brilliant sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Name Skillz asks for nothing beyond the download.

Brilliant holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brilliant has 33K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Brilliant's written reviews are positive against 85% of Name Skillz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Brilliant ships an update weekly, Name Skillz fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
