# MailTime vs Mail App for Gmail

The clearest difference is rating: Mail App for Gmail at 4.6 against MailTime's 3.7. Mail App for Gmail also leads on ratings volume (9.5K vs 97) and chart position (#181 vs unranked). MailTime's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and review sentiment (60% vs 39%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MailTime sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Mail App for Gmail sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mail App for Gmail holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mail App for Gmail has 9.5K ratings behind it against 97, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of MailTime's written reviews are positive against 39% of Mail App for Gmail's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MailTime ships an update fortnightly, Mail App for Gmail every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
