# Recology vs Sonoma County Library

The clearest difference is rating: Recology at 4.0 against Sonoma County Library's 2.5. Recology also leads on ratings volume (540 vs 10) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Recology holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Recology has 540 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of Recology's written reviews are positive against 29% of Sonoma County Library's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
