# Skillshare vs SkillLane

Skillshare and SkillLane both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of SkillLane's written reviews are positive against 62% of Skillshare's. Skillshare's advantage is ratings volume (25K vs 71) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Skillshare sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $18.99 per month and SkillLane sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Skillshare against 4.7 for SkillLane. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Skillshare has 25K ratings behind it against 71, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 62% of Skillshare's written reviews are positive against 100% of SkillLane's.

Skillshare ships an update every 10 days, SkillLane every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
