# ecobee by Generac vs Security Camera

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Security Camera at 74% against ecobee by Generac's 30%. ecobee by Generac's advantage is ratings volume (221K vs 159) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ecobee by Generac sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Security Camera sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ecobee by Generac holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ecobee by Generac has 221K ratings behind it against 159, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of ecobee by Generac's written reviews are positive against 74% of Security Camera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ecobee by Generac ships an update fortnightly, Security Camera every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
