# Countdowns vs Slow Hammerheads

The clearest difference is ads: Slow Hammerheads at none against Countdowns's shown. Slow Hammerheads also leads on iOS requirement (12.4 vs 17.0). Countdowns's advantage is ratings volume (9.4K vs 29) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdowns sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Slow Hammerheads sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Countdowns holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdowns has 9.4K ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Countdowns's written reviews are positive against 86% of Slow Hammerheads's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Countdowns ships an update every 2 weeks, Slow Hammerheads every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
