# Countdown Widget vs Next Big Day

The clearest difference is ads: Next Big Day at none against Countdown Widget's shown. Next Big Day also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Countdown Widget's advantage is ratings volume (9.5K vs 1) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown Widget sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Next Big Day sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Next Big Day holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown Widget has 9.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
