# FluentU vs Match Lingo Language Learning

FluentU and Match Lingo Language Learning both sit at 4.3 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Match Lingo Language Learning's written reviews are positive against 56% of FluentU's. Match Lingo Language Learning also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.4). FluentU's advantage is ratings volume (2.8K vs 7). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FluentU sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Match Lingo Language Learning sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for FluentU against 4.4 for Match Lingo Language Learning. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FluentU has 2.8K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.
