# Thalamus vs Practicing Excellence

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Thalamus at 492 against Practicing Excellence's 30. Practicing Excellence's advantage is review sentiment (20% vs 6%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 3.8 for Thalamus against 3.9 for Practicing Excellence. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Thalamus has 492 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 6% of Thalamus's written reviews are positive against 20% of Practicing Excellence's.

Thalamus ships an update every 3 months, Practicing Excellence monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
