# DiveFree vs Currents

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Currents at 60% against DiveFree's 0%. Currents also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). DiveFree's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.2) and iOS requirement (6.1 vs 26.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DiveFree sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Currents sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DiveFree holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Currents has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of DiveFree's written reviews are positive against 60% of Currents's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DiveFree ships an update every 4 months, Currents every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
