# tick vs Document Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Document Scanner at 5.0 against tick's 3.0. Document Scanner also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 34 months) and ratings volume (9 vs 1). tick's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. tick sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Document Scanner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Document Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Document Scanner has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

tick ships an update every 34 months, Document Scanner weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
