# VDWrite vs Luwi

The clearest difference is rating: Luwi at 5.0 against VDWrite's 4.1. Luwi also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs monthly). VDWrite's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and review sentiment (68% vs 50%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Luwi sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. VDWrite asks for nothing beyond the download.

Luwi holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VDWrite has 65 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of VDWrite's written reviews are positive against 50% of Luwi's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VDWrite ships an update monthly, Luwi every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
