# VDWrite vs Talky

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: VDWrite at none against Talky's 3. VDWrite also leads on review sentiment (68% vs 33%). Talky's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.1) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Talky sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. VDWrite asks for nothing beyond the download.

Talky holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 65 and 34 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of VDWrite's written reviews are positive against 33% of Talky's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VDWrite ships an update monthly, Talky weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 20, 2026 respectively.
