# Hindsight vs Instant Capture

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Instant Capture at none against Hindsight's 6. Instant Capture also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). Hindsight's advantage is ratings volume (395 vs 2). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hindsight sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Instant Capture asks for nothing beyond the download.

Instant Capture holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hindsight has 395 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hindsight ships an update weekly, Instant Capture every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
