# Course Hero vs PhotoSolve

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PhotoSolve at 72% against Course Hero's 28%. PhotoSolve also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Course Hero's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Course Hero sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and PhotoSolve sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Course Hero holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Course Hero has 65K ratings behind it against 1.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 28% of Course Hero's written reviews are positive against 72% of PhotoSolve's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Course Hero ships an update fortnightly, PhotoSolve monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
