# Barometer and Altimeter vs The Barometer

The clearest difference is rating: The Barometer at 4.6 against Barometer and Altimeter's 3.4. The Barometer also leads on ratings volume (339 vs 24). Barometer and Altimeter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Barometer holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Barometer has 339 ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Barometer and Altimeter's written reviews are positive against 67% of The Barometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
