# Animal Typing vs SSL Now

The clearest difference is rating: SSL Now at 5.0 against Animal Typing's 4.5. SSL Now also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Animal Typing's advantage is ratings volume (5.2K vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Animal Typing sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and SSL Now sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SSL Now holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Animal Typing has 5.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Animal Typing ships an update every 2 months, SSL Now every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
