# RightNow Media vs Captional

The clearest difference is rating: Captional at 5.0 against RightNow Media's 3.8. Captional also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). RightNow Media's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 2) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 7 months). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Captional holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RightNow Media has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

RightNow Media ships an update every 5 weeks, Captional every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
