# Live Barometer vs Professional Barometer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Live Barometer at none against Professional Barometer's 3. Live Barometer also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 42 months). Professional Barometer's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (13 vs 3). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Professional Barometer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Live Barometer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Professional Barometer holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Live Barometer's written reviews are positive against 45% of Professional Barometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Live Barometer ships an update fortnightly, Professional Barometer every 42 months. The most recent releases landed on September 19, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
