# Onkyo Remote 3 vs Russound

The clearest difference is rating: Russound at 2.8 against Onkyo Remote 3's 1.8. Onkyo Remote 3's advantage is review sentiment (26% vs 11%) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Russound holds the better App Store score, 2.8 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Onkyo Remote 3 has 386 ratings behind it against 58, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of Onkyo Remote 3's written reviews are positive against 11% of Russound's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Onkyo Remote 3 ships an update every 6 weeks, Russound every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
