# MileagePlus X vs Variance

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MileagePlus X at none against Variance's 1. MileagePlus X also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (21K vs 1). Variance's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Variance sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. MileagePlus X asks for nothing beyond the download.

Variance holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MileagePlus X has 21K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MileagePlus X ships an update monthly, Variance fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
