# WriteOn vs Notes Writer

The clearest difference is price: Notes Writer at Free against WriteOn's $4.99. Notes Writer also leads on rating (4.5 vs 3.3) and update cadence (every 4 days vs monthly). WriteOn's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 9) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). On review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Notes Writer is free to download; WriteOn costs $4.99 up front. Notes Writer sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. WriteOn asks for nothing beyond the download.

Notes Writer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notes Writer has 7.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of WriteOn's written reviews are positive against 45% of Notes Writer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WriteOn ships an update monthly, Notes Writer every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
