# Word Keeper vs ButterDocs

The clearest difference is review sentiment: ButterDocs at 100% against Word Keeper's 49%. ButterDocs also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 8). Word Keeper's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word Keeper sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. ButterDocs asks for nothing beyond the download.

Word Keeper holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Word Keeper has 501 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of Word Keeper's written reviews are positive against 100% of ButterDocs's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Word Keeper ships an update fortnightly, ButterDocs every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
