# Word Keeper vs Writing Tracker

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Writing Tracker at 100% against Word Keeper's 49%. Writing Tracker also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Word Keeper's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.5) and ratings volume (503 vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word Keeper sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Writing Tracker sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Word Keeper holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Word Keeper has 503 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of Word Keeper's written reviews are positive against 100% of Writing Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Word Keeper ships an update every 2 weeks, Writing Tracker fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
