# Zing Messenger vs Chat

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Chat at none against Zing Messenger's 3. Chat also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (21 vs 2). Zing Messenger's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 23%) and rating (3.5 vs 3.3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zing Messenger sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Chat asks for nothing beyond the download.

Zing Messenger holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chat has 21 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of Zing Messenger's written reviews are positive against 23% of Chat's.

Zing Messenger ships an update every 5 weeks, Chat fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
