# Microsoft Power BI vs Capptions

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Capptions at 100% against Microsoft Power BI's 47%. Microsoft Power BI's advantage is ratings volume (97K vs 316) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Microsoft Power BI holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Power BI has 97K ratings behind it against 316, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Microsoft Power BI's written reviews are positive against 100% of Capptions's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Microsoft Power BI ships an update fortnightly, Capptions every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
