# Animatoon vs LIVE Face

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: LIVE Face at none against Animatoon's 2. LIVE Face also leads on rating (3.5 vs 3.1). Animatoon's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 13 months) and review sentiment (43% vs 15%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Animatoon sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. LIVE Face asks for nothing beyond the download.

LIVE Face holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Animatoon has 405 ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Animatoon's written reviews are positive against 15% of LIVE Face's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Animatoon ships an update every 2 months, LIVE Face every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
